Nellivee Clark

1925 — February 22, 2016

Nellivee Clark passed away Monday afternoon, February 22, 2016 at Southern Meadows in Abilene at the age of 90. She was born July 25, 1925 in rural Taylor County on Clark Road. Her parents were William Clark and Grace Travis Clark. Nellivee is survived by her sister, Betty Clark and her brother, Travis Clark and his wife Bobbie. Travis and Bobbie were married in 1997. At that time, Nellivee became a part of their family; three daughters and one son, Jorja and husband Pat Fournier, Nancy and husband Buddy McIntyre, Marianne and husband Jerry Kirkland and David Hooker. They are a wonderful family of children and grandchildren and even three great-grandchildren. Nellivee has had the privilege of loving and caring for the grandchildren. She attended the one teacher school at Cedar Creek School, Taylor County, for six years and then the school was consolidated with Wylie School in 1936. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1941. Nellivee began her ministry of 47 years with First Baptist Church, Midland when she graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1945. First and foremost, Nellivee was a Christian and was secretary for all of the four pastors; Dr. Vernon Yearby, Dr. Lester Morriss, Dr. Daniel Vestal, and Dr. Jim Denison – serving them with efficiency and a gentle Christian spirit – quoting Dr. Morriss. She served as Church Clerk, worked on minutes of several building committees, and used her musical talent by singing in the choir – and as a Sunday school teacher. Nellivee spent four years of her later retirement years at Wesley Court. Since returning to Abilene from Midland, Nellivee has been a member of the Wylie Baptist Church. Brother Donny Harbers is her pastor and will have her funeral service at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Nellivee’s name to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605; or to Wylie Baptist Church Building Fund, 6097 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX 79606.
