Nell Graves Sawyer

Nell Graves Sawyer; 94, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. Nell was born in Corsicana, Texas on September 21, 1922 to Robert Russell Graves and Mary Gertrude Kelly. She spent her childhood in Rockett, Texas, Ellis County. She graduated from high school in Ferris, Texas and Draughn's Business College, in Fort Worth, Texas. Nell worked in various bookkeeping and secretarial positions ending with nine years at Dyess AFB as accounting clerk in NAFFMO office. Her husband since 1946 was Lt. Col. Lofton P. Sawyer (Ret.). He preceded her in death in 1985. Survivors include two children, Gloria Ann Sawyer of Abilene, and Thomas P. Sawyer of Ovalo, Texas; one sister, Kathryn Clopton of Rockett, Texas; one stepdaughter, Linda Barnes and husband Dennis of Boaz, Alabama; one stepson, Gary Barnes; and several nieces, nephews, and their families. Nell loved to travel, spend time with her family and relatives, and play Bridge with her dear friends every week. Tom and Ann would like to extend special thanks to Renew Home Health Care, her private caregivers, Kindred Hospice and Wesley Court Nursing for taking such good care of our "Ms. Nell".
