Neal was born in Lovington, New Mexico to Monroe and Winnie Brewer on September 23, 1944. He went to school at Abilene South Junior High School to the 8th grade. He married Clara Marie “Buckles” McGough on February 28, 1966. He owned and operated Brewer Motors where he bought and sold cars for many years. He also serviced cars for several dealerships in Abilene, where he was well known and respected by many in the car industry. Many of his workdays were filled with dealing with customers and car dealerships but he considered everyone a friend and not just business associates. Neal was known for always being the guy to call if someone needed help with a car or any other problem. His wealth of knowledge and his dedication to all who knew him will be greatly missed. He was a loving husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved being with family and friends, especially on the holidays. One of his favorite things to do was to meet up at Denny’s for conversation and coffee no matter the time of day. He also enjoyed many nights of dancing to country music with his wife, Nita, and their friends.
Neal was preceded in death by his wife, Clara “Buckles” Brewer in 2009, his parents, Monroe and Winnie Brewer, and a brother, Melvin Brewer and three sisters, Willie Green, Fern Ballard, and Nedra Maxwell, and stepdaughter Krystal Laramore.
On July 13, 2013, Neal married Nita Smith and they enjoyed almost 11 years of dancing, traveling, and many adventures. Neal was deeply loved and adored by his stepchildren and step grandchildren.
Neal Brewer is survived by his wife, Nita Brewer, a son and daughter -in-law, Daniel Lynn and Sharon Brewer of Abilene, daughter and son-in -law, Becky and Nick Smith of Big Sandy, TX, daughter, Sarah Walker of Abilene, and a brother, Noel Brewer of Snyder, TX.
