Nancy Silva, 52, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at her residence in Abilene.
The daughter of Frances (Guajardo) and Arthur Garcia, Nancy was born on February 16, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from Converse-Judson High School. She married Andrew R. Silva on January 29, 1977, and moved to Abilene that same year. A dedicated worker who valued her employees and truly enjoyed her job, Nancy was assistant store manager at Sears for which she worked 26 years.
Nancy was a Christian. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Aikman. She loved entertaining and cooking for special occasions. She could often be found watching HGTV or The Food Network and reading her Good Housekeeping magazines.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Garcia.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Andrew R. Silva of Abilene; three sons, Andrew M. Silva and wife Jenny, Phillip Arthur Silva, and Peter Gilbert Silva, all of Abilene; daughter, Sarah Anderson and husband Devin of Abilene; and grandson, Aikman Anderson, as well as another grandchild expected in July. Survivors also include her mother, Frances Ingle of Kerrville; sister, Jeanette Cafferty and husband Bill of Kerrville; and brother, Arthur Garcia of Arlington, Virginia.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Rev. Robert Lotzer officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Garcia, William Cafferty, Chris Snow, Carlos Duran, Dave Guerrero and Raul Benavides.
