Nada Sellers, 80, of Abilene passed away on March 22, 2014 in Abilene.
Viewing will be Monday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 25, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. There will be a guest book to sign.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Potosi Cemetery with Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz of Aldersgate United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Nada was born in Abilene to Howard and Allie Leota Williams on May 5, 1933. She went to school at Wylie where she met Joe Sellers in the eighth grade. Nada was an outstanding athlete, playing basketball, volleyball and all of the other sports available to the young ladies of that time. She was the Valedictorian of the graduating Class of 1951.
Nada and Joe went together through high school and were married on September 22, 1951 in Potosi.
Nada worked for Paymaster for several years, then went to work for AISD as secretary, clerk and other positions, as she raised two boys. She continued to work for the schools as they moved around Texas and then back home to Abilene ISD until she retired.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Renewers Sunday School Class and the Sara Circle of the United Methodist Women. Though inactive for the last several years, she loved them all.
Nada was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Leota Williams; six brothers, Wilburn, Deon, Harmon, JW, Bob and Allen; two sisters, Maedelle Howle and Billie Beaty; and one sister-in-law, Marvine Williams Hogsett.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Sellers; two sons, Douglas J Sellers and wife Carmen and William Mark Sellers; two sisters, Lamoyne Fulgim and Tommie Jo Lindsey; two sisters-in-law, Betty Williams and Maxine Williams; four grandchildren, Michelle Rodriguez and husband Carlos, Phillip Douglas Sellers, Katherine Rose Gallegos and husband George, and Blair Nichole Sellers Gaines and husband Stephen; and six great-grandchildren, Desiree Marie, Amber Marie, Jasmine Marie and Felicia Marie Esparza, Phillip Paul Sellers, and Bella Rose Gaines, as well as numerous dearly loved cousins, nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 3402 North 1st Street, Suite 102, Abilene, TX 79603, or any caregiving fund of your choice.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Melnyk for the love and care all these years, Dr. Maria Toro for the care and understanding Nada needed, and especially the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Abilene Regional Medical Emergency Center for their love and kindness.
