Myrtle Ann McElroy, 81, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
The daughter of Newell (Davis) and James St. John, Myrtle was born in Colorado City, Texas, on September 23, 1935. She was a lifelong resident of Abilene, having graduated from Abilene High School. She married James McElroy on February 3, 1956 in Abilene and was a homemaker. She previously worked for Timex 4 years and JC Penney Co. 10 years. Myrtle was a member of Bethel Temple Christian Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack St. John.
Myrtle is survived by her husband, Jim McElroy of Abilene; two sons, Michael McElroy of North Richland Hills, Texas and Johnny McElroy of Abilene; a brother, Earl St. John of Milledgeville, Georgia; a sister, Martha Gadbury of Eastland; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 28, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home chapel officiated by Rev. Frank Estes. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, Abilene.
