Myrna Johnson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, just before her 82nd birthday.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Elmcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the funeral home.
Born in Cooper, Texas on May 28, 1934, Myrna was the daughter of Ethel (Brackeen) and Clyde Therin Balentine. She married William Albert "Dub" Johnson on May 28, 1953 in Lubbock, Texas. Since 1963, she had been a resident of Abilene where she worked in the repair department for Timex from 1971 to 1977. She was a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church in Abilene. She loved and was loved by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dub, on March 12, 2006; her parents; and a brother-in-law, David Dunham.
Myrna is survived by her son, Jerry Don "J.D." Johnson of Abilene; daughters, Brenda Hudson and husband Earl K. of Juneau, Alaska, and Janice Wilson of Abilene; brother, Herbert Balentine and wife Patsy of New Albany, Indiana; sisters, Ethelene Dunham of Kyle, Texas, and Sherry Bramlett and husband Rick of Decatur, Texas; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Terry (Hillary), David (Nikki), Sonja and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren, Amiyan, Briannah, Cambriah, Landon and Braydon.
