Myrna May Allred, 80, of Abilene, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 in Dallas.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday December 28, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Miller, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Compere Cemetery.
Myrna was born on May 20, 1938 in Ranger, Texas to the late Byron T. and Irene Murfee. She was raised in Noodle, Texas and was a graduate of Noodle High School. During her senior year, she married the love of her life, James Royce Allred on April 20, 1957 in Abilene. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1999. She was very active in the Jones County Extension Council. Myrna was a former Woman of the Year for Jones County. She was a member of the Noodle Church of Christ and the Noodle Community Center Board. She was very instrumental in the restoration of that center. Myrna was a member of the TEEA and held every office in that organization. She loved playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by one sister Ann Dove.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Sue Smith and husband David of Enchanted Oaks in East Texas and Jamie Ann Allred of Abilene; one brother, George Murfee and wife Patty of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, James David Smith, Holly Suzanne Lewis, Logan Allumbaugh and Lance Allumbaugh; and five great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be, James David Smith, James Lewis, Logan Allumbaugh, Lance Allumbaugh, Chuck Allumbaugh and David Gibson.
