Rhett Joseph Reesing was born on November 22, 1968 in Taipei, Taiwan to Joedale and Donna McBride Reesing. He died in Abilene, Texas on May 30, 2013. As a member of an Air Force family he spent his childhood and youth living in many locations of the USA. His favorite memory was spending summers with his grandparents on their farm in Stratford, Texas where he developed his strong work ethic and love of the outdoors. He also spent many summers with his grandparents in Brownwood camping and fishing.
On December 28, 1992 he married Kristi Fontaine in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Their daughter, Emily, was the joy of his life. In 1992 Rhett joined the USAF and was still on active duty at the time of his death. He was respected by his superiors and peers for his integrity and willingness to accept any challenge. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Long, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, and he achieved the rank of Master Sargent. He spent ten years at Dyess AFB and was currently assigned to Dover AFB, Delaware. Rhett was home on leave to attend the Cooper High School graduation of Emily.
Hobbies included being an avid NASCAR fan, coaching youth soccer, maintaining a 1957 Chevy car, and restoring a 1965 Chevy pickup.
Survivors include his wife Kristi and daughter Emily (Weasel) of Abilene, TX, stepson Brett Fontaine and granddaughter Gabriella Fontaine of Grand Forks, ND, loving parents Joedale and Donna Reesing of Brownwood, TX, brother Brad Reesing of Idabel, OK, and brother Joe Reesing of Broken Bow, OK.
Rhett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jodie and Madeline Reesing of Clifton, TX, and Ernest and Esther McBride of Brownwood, TX.
Family visitation will be held at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Abilene, TX, from 5-7 PM on Sunday June 2, 2013. Graveside service will be held on Monday June 3, 2013 at 4:30 PM at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Rd. Abilene, TX.
