Milton Charles (MC) Cranfill, 95, of Abilene , TX, went peacefully to be with His Lord on April 21, 2014 in Abilene, TX.
Funeral service will be held at the Southern Hills Church of Christ chapel on Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. Jesse Stroup of Dallas, TX will be officiating, assisted by Richard Melton and David Cranfill. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
M.C. was born on December 31, 1918 to Zella Cranfill Edwards and Rufus Cranfill in Rockwall, Texas. He was the oldest of 8 brothers. As a young man he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp. M.C. married Dorothy Jean Cathy on June 30, 1940 in Gatesville, TX . They had one son Travis Waylon Cranfill. M.C. and his young family moved to Abilene in 1951. M.C. was a dedicated and loving husband, father and hardworking business man. M.C. and his brother Doc (R.C.) started Abilene Radiator Works in 1958. In 1973 M.C.’s son Travis joined the family business and expanded and opened CCC Supply. M.C. retired in 1987 leaving his Son and later Grandson to run the family business.
M.C. had a servant’s heart and loved to serve his community, church and family. He was an Abilene Breakfast Optimist Club member, he was a founding member of the Independent Garage Association, he served as a deacon for many years at the Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene, TX. He was honored with an “MC Cranfill” day on November 23, 2005 by the mayor of Abilene.
M.C. was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy; his parents; his only son Travis Cranfill; brothers, Rufus (R.C.) Cranfill, Norman Cranfill, William Edwards, Daniel Edwards and Murray Edwards.
M.C. is survived by his daughter in law; Patsy Cranfill, two grandchildren Darby Ahlfinger and her husband Scott of Trophy Club, TX and David Cranfill and his wife Stephanie of Abilene, TX. Three great-grandchildren: Travis, Cassidy and Jaxton Cranfill all of Abilene, TX, and two brothers: Sam Edwards and his wife Elainne of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., and Don and His wife Lois of Frankfort, IL.
M.C. and his family would like to express deep appreciation to the following people for their love and dedication to M.C: Chris and the ladies at HFC, Dr. Ferguson, the staff at University Place and Stella Rideout.
