Mildred Henyan, 98, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on March 15th, 2022, at Windcrest Health & Rehab.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 1:00pm at Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene. Jeff Reid of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church will officiate. Graveside service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas, with Gary Stephenson officiating.
Mildred was born in Point, Texas on September 18, 1923, to Gladys Branch & Curtis Mooring. Her dad passed away when she was a baby. Gladys married W. H. Yelvington shortly afterward. The young family soon moved to Lubbock. Mildred married E. J. Henyan on February 16, 1943, in Lubbock. Three days later, he left for WWII. Mildred began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1942 as a switchboard operator. She retired from SWBT in 1983. Mildred was very active in the Salvation Army in her youth. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Ron Henyan, a grandson, Brent, and 3 brothers, Tommy, W. E., and Don. Also, her special aunt, Ruby Branch.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy & Bob Patty, sister Billie Miller, grandchildren Robbie & Cathy Patty, Jon Patty, Emily Patty, Rachel & Sean Gray, James and Steven Henyan. Precious great-grandchildren Arya, Kellan & Marlee Patty, and Adrianna Galicia. Also, several step grandchildren.
Memorials may go to Cancer Services Network or House for Healing, both in Abilene.
The family wishes to extend our thanks to Windcrest Health & Rehab, Nellie Lamb, & Kathy Rhyne for their loving care of our mom.
