Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Allcorn and Dr. Jeff Reid of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Nan was born in Granbury, Texas to I.M. and Pat Kiker on February 25, 1935. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1953. A few weeks after graduation she married the love of her life, Stanley Alford. They started a family immediately, and after their three children began school she began working at Elmwood Baptist Church Daycare. This is where she became known as "Mama Nan". She loved the children there as if they were her own.
During this time, she and Stan caught the antique bug. She eventually left the daycare and she
and Stan opened Alford's Antiques. They worked hard for 18 years before retiring, but loved every minute of it. They made so many special friends during that time.
Nan was a lover of all people. Like her dad, she never met a stranger. It didn't matter the color of their skin, where they lived, what they had or did not have…she loved them. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and the friends she made there as well.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, I.M. and Pat Kiker, and her grandson, Clay Stanton.
Nan is survived by her husband, Stanley Alford; son, Dike Alford; daughters, Polly Smith and husband Steve, and Pam Mitchell and husband Eddie; and one sister, Linda Lacewell and husband Mac. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Cali Risinger, Clint Plumlee, Cory Mitchell, Holly Beck and husband Tom. She also has five great grandchildren, Silas and Symry Mitchell, Sam and Caroline Beck and Emmi Risinger.
