Mike Richards, 58, of Abilene died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at a local medical center.
Born in Abilene, Texas on July 29, 1952, Mike was the son of Virginia (Steger) and Frank Richards. He graduated from Cooper High School and was a lifelong resident of Abilene. Mike was the owner and operator of BMJ Budget Cars for many years, and later worked for Lawrence Hall in used car sales. At the time of his death, he worked in sales for Gallery Furniture.
Mike was a longtime member and former deacon and Sunday School teacher of Wylie Baptist Church. He was a former member and past president of the Wylie Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Alma Ramirez Richards; second wife, Beth Edmondson Richards; and brother, James Richards.
Survivors include his three daughters, Melody Dagenhart and husband Toby of Katy, Texas, Marcie Richards of Abilene, and Jamie Westcott and husband Evan of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Amber, Isaac, Bryant, Katie and Kelsey; sister, Nancy Bentley of Santa Fe, New Mexico; father-in-law, Jesse Edmondson of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with John Fanning officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
