Michael Allyn Reaves went home to be with his heavenly father and brother on Monday, June 19, 2006. He was born June 10, 1956, in Camden, Arkansas. He lived in Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated from high school in Village, Arkansas.
Mike attended college at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas and graduated with a degree in accounting. He was a certified public accountant and worked as an auditor for Frost and Company in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1978-1990. Mike also worked in the banking industry in Little Rock, Arkansas, Austin and Georgetown, Texas. He was executive vice president, CFO and cashier for First Financial Bank in Abilene, moving here from Austin in July, 2004. He was a senior vice president and assistant CFO for First Financial Bankshares, the bank's holding company. He was active in the communities where they lived. He served on the American Heart Association Board and on the board of the Austin Children's Shelter from 2001-2004 in Austin. He served as a deacon and elder at the Georgetown Church of Christ. He attended Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene and had recently been appointed to the Board of Directors for Disability Resources, Inc. in Abilene.
Mike married Kathy McKinnon September 2, 1977 in Magnolia, Arkansas. They have two sons, Matthew Aaron of Abilene, and Christopher Allyn, who is a student at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He is also survived by his parents, Marvin and Betty Reaves, and one brother and his family, Robert, Angela and Elizabeth Reaves, all of Val Praiso, Indiana.
The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Southern Hills Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
