Michael T. "Mike" Ramsey, proud of the fact that he had flown 27 types of aircraft during his life, made his 28th and final flight on Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born on October 15, 1927 to Dr. Minton "M.T." Ramsey and Avondell Bacon Ramsey.
Mike joined the First Christian Church in Abilene in 1943 and was baptized on the 15th day of August by Dr. F.M. Warren, Pastor. He attended Abilene High School and graduated from Kemper Military School and College in 1944. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army in the rebuilding of Japan under McArthur's General Headquarters (GHQ), Far Eastern Command. He attained the rank of Warrant Officer.
Mike was an Abilene businessman and in insurance and real estate for many years. He was a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Reeves Ramsey, of 41 years and is survived by many family members and friends.
At Mike's request no service is scheduled and his remains will be interred next to his wife, Jane, in Lovington, New Mexico at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Abilene or Hendrick Home for Children.
