Michael Morrison, 62, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2017 of a sudden and unexpected illness.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Michael was born in San Angelo, Texas on March 3, 1955, to Norma Gray Morrison and Archie Morrison. Michael grew up in San Angelo, Anson, and Abilene. He was a longtime employee of the Abilene State Assisted Living Center, and then of Patti Jones.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Archie Morrison. He is survived by his sisters, Audrey L. Scott and Annie Mae Morrison; his brothers, Archie Leon Morrison, Norman Jean Morrison, and Robert L. Morrison; and by many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving Michael are Patti Jones and her husband, Gerry Cockrell, Jay and Lindsay Hardaway and their daughters Lucy, Claire, and Nellie Cate, as well as friends from all over the Big Country.
Those are the distilled facts of the life of Michael Morrison but do little to describe his larger-than-life physical presence and gregarious personality. Michael found joy and friendship in every errand and encounter in his daily life. Often, he was known only by his first name, Michael. Homes and offices all over town were grateful recipients of his "famous" cookies and cakes. Anyone who had sadness and loss was quickly comforted with one of his "Bereavement Feasts". If you were fortunate to be invited to one of his dinners, cocktail buffets or luxurious New Year's Eve parties, you enjoyed a memorable experience that would give you stories to share for years to come. Generosity beyond belief, a booming laugh, energy to spare, and the ability to inspire people with his ebullience were hallmarks of his sunny persona.
Remember and honor Michael by following his personal credo: "Cheer up, dress up, and show up!.
