Michael James Kostic passed away at the age of 77, on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at his home in Abilene, Texas.
Michael was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Peter and Ruth Kostic on July 7, 1944. After his graduation at Scotch Plains New Jersey High School, he was accepted into the University of South Carolina and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Michael married Barbria Ann Fulton in Fort Worth, Texas on March 20, 1997. He worked in the cocoa business for 35 years. He was the President of Carlyle Cocoa Company based in New Castle, Delaware until his retirement in March of 2020.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael James Kostic, Jr.; and sister, Betsy Chase.
Michael is survived by his wife, Ann Kostic of Abilene; his two daughters, Elaine Selfridge and husband Cameron of Dillwyn, Virginia and Gretchen Duffy and husband Michael of Shertz, Texas; his stepsons, Fred Baggett and Clay Baggett and wife Heidi, all of Abilene; brother, Mark Kostic and wife Kathy of Swedesboro, New Jersey; sister, Ruth Ellen Kostic of Carneys Point, New Jersey; along with eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow at Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, our family ask that memorials be made to Michael’s favorite charity.
