Michael Kelly Hamil

Mike Hamil, 55, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Potosi Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim McCurly officiating. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. Mike was born on May 15, 1950 in Breckenridge, Texas to Kenneth and Betty Jo (Waldrop) Hamil. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1969. Mike was a lifelong resident of the Big Country. He was a member of Potosi Baptist Church and he also enjoyed attending Sunday school at Broadview Baptist Church. Mike had previously worked for Joe Allen's BBQ. He was an avid lover of animals, loved life and never met a stranger. He also loved wood-working. Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Jo Hamil in 1991, his maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. E.V. Waldrop, of Caddo and his paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. E. Hamil of Breckenridge. He is survived by his parents Ken and Betty Jo Hamil of Potosi; his sister Lynn Peterson and her husband Dan of Potosi; one niece Paige Taillet and her husband Bob of Potosi; one great-nephew, Travis Taillet, and his girlfriend of ten years, Sharon King of Abilene. He is also survived by his extended family, Greg, Charleen and Kathryn Garner of Potosi and Stephanie and Jesse Auld of Georgia. David Waldrop, Nolan Hamil, Mark Hamil, Stace Nicholson, Wayne Whetsel and David Gray will serve as pallbearers.
