Melissa Lynn Couch

Melissa Couch, age 49, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Lytle South Baptist Church with Brother Rodney Watson, Brother Jack Ridlehoover, and Brother Greg Rake officiating. Melissa was born to Richard and Donna Bowman on August 1, 1965 in Hialeah, Florida. She was a beloved teacher for 27 years. She also was an active member of Lytle South Baptist Church. Melissa was a large part of the student ministry, and loved the youth like they were her own. Known as the “long distance driver,” Melissa obtained her CDL to drive the youth to South Padre, Taos, New Mexico, several trips to Arlington, and many other destinations. Melissa was known for her courage, strength, and determination during her battle with cancer. She lived her favorite bible verse, I Thessalonians 5: 16-18. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Lee Bowman. Melissa is survived by her mother, Donna Jeane Bowman; one son, Colton Couch; one daughter, Maegan Clark and husband Rocky; one granddaughter, Ashlynn Crosswhite, all of Abilene; her special friend, Greg Rake and her travel buddy, Brenda Stremmel, both of Abilene; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in Melissa’s name to Lytle South Baptist Church for the Belize Missions P.O. Box 5390, Abilene, TX 79608; or to the Boys and Girls Club of Abilene, P.O.
