Darlene Lemons Jacob passed away April 28, 2017 at the age 76. She was born May 13, 1940 in Snyder, Texas to Hurston and Mamie Pylant Lemons. She graduated from Fluvanna High School in 1958. After graduation, she attended Texas Tech University. On August 26, 1961, she married Billy Jacob in Fluvanna, Texas. After Billy graduated from Texas Tech in 1962, they moved to Oklahoma where both of her children Tamara and Boyce were born. In 1966, they moved to Abilene. Darlene was a devoted homemaker who loved to sew, cook and decorate. In 1978, she and a longtime friend opened D'Ann's Bridal in River Oaks. Traveling with family or friends was always fun for this county girl.
Survivors include her husband Billy, daughter Tamara Keilberg of Frisco, Texas, son Boyce and wife Kelly of McKinney, Texas, one granddaughter Chandler Keilberg of Carrollton, and two step granddaughters Andrea Parmelly of Austin, Texas and Abby Parmelly of McKinney, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers Bobby Lemons and wife Jan of Colorado City, Texas and Hurston "Buck" Lemons of Fluvanna, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Darlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Before her illness, she enjoyed serving on the church Social Ministry Team. She had many dear and devoted friends.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:30–8:00 pm Sunday April 30, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday May 1, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Wylie Wise, O.J. Murray, Gene Robertson, Gary Yungblut, Ed Gizzle and Ryan Eichner.
