Max Wheeler Hardin, 81, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Weatherford, Texas on July 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Vitra (Chaney) and Wheeler A. Hardin.
Max started his career as an early teen after the death of his Mother. After retiring from Arrow Ford to spend time with his family and travel, his dedication to his work would allow him to transport cars with coworkers and included his wife. He loved tinkering with anything that he thought was not just perfect.
An avid outdoorsman, Max loved his lake house, fishing, boating and entertaining family and friends there. He enjoyed bowling competitions, snow skiing in Ruidoso, but most of all his love for his family, teaching them his traits, playing with his grandchildren was his passion. Max leaves behind a host of friends who will miss his good jokes and kind words bringing a smile to many. Max rests in the arms of Jesus. He was recently baptized at North Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda Hardin of Abilene; son, Max Randall Hardin and wife Lucia of The Colony, Texas; two sisters, Annell Brightwell and husband Tom of North Carolina, and Sandra Clark of Alexandria, Louisiana; two grandsons and spouses, Ross Hardin and Brittany of Weatherford, and Nicholas Hardin and Rossi of Prosper, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Aislynn Hardin, Paxton Hardin, Ryann Hardin, Eva Hardin, and Reese Hardin along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Dr. Don Greenway officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Cross Plains Memorial Cemetery in Cross Plains, Texas.
