Matilene (Squirt) Prince, 90, of Abilene, passed away on July 28th of 2016 in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, at Southwest Park Baptist Church with George Fuller of North Raleigh Community Church of Raleigh, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 1, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Matilene was born in Merkel, Texas to Francis and Beulah London on November 11th, 1925. She went to school at Merkel and Stamford, graduating from Stamford High. She married Dale Prince on April 7th, 1946 in Stamford, Texas. She worked as a Library Aid for Fair Park Elementary School and other various schools for numerous years. She was a long-standing member of Southwest Park Baptist church where she did visitations and helped with the books.
Matilene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, and a sister.
Matilene is survived by daughter, J.K. Prince of Boerne; son, Herby Prince and wife Jan of Abilene; sister, Flossie Bradley of Baird; sister, Maxine Mooty of Pasadena; grandson, Billy Prince and wife Mary of Abilene; granddaughter, Tina Hobbs and husband Cody of Abilene; step grandchildren, Zach Peavler and Janie Holder; 6 great-grandchildren, James, Ashley, Thaddous, Dave, Arwen, and Jordin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Prince, Cody Hobbs, Thaddous Hazelwood, Mike Woodyard, David Woodyard, Joe Mac Woodyard, and James Prince (honorary).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, 301 S Pioneer Dr. Ste 105, Abilene, TX 79605.
