Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Weatherby, 89, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, at Brook Hollow Christian Church with Rev. Penny Biddy officiating. The family will receive friends in the Narthex following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene Jackie was born December 23, 1927 to George and Helen Bingham in Breckenridge, Texas. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1946. After graduation, she attended Draughan's Business College in Fort Worth. On November 20, 1948, Jackie married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Weatherby. Starting in 1947, Jackie worked as a secretary for the Electric Company in Breckenridge. She and Ralph moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, and settled in Abilene in 1961. Jackie worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at Well Perforators. In 1968 she continued her career at Hack Drilling Company where she worked until her retirement in 1988. In addition, she and Ralph started Key City Warehouse in 1968. Jackie's positive, generous and energetic personality was highly regarded by all who knew her and was a testament to how she lived her faith. She was a devoted wife and the greatest mother two kids could ever have. Along with her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Weatherby and sister, Janie Lech. She is survived by daughter Chris Slaughter and husband Clay of Fort Worth, and son Andy Weatherby and wife Martha of Abilene; grandchildren Katie and Sam Slaughter of Fort Worth, and grandchild Mary Taylor Bone and husband Gary of Abilene; great-grandchild Claire Bone of Abilene; and Karmen Miller of Winters. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Judy, Becky, Mary, Tina, Yolanda, Tamika, Brenda and Sylvia for the devoted care and companionship they provided Jackie the past few years. They also want to thank Dr. Victor Hudman, Generations Home Health and Kindred Hospice for their excellent care. Memorials may be made to Brook Hollow Christian Church, 2310 S. Willis, Abilene, TX 79605, or the donor's favorite charity.
