Mary Lou Ross, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the age of 91. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Mary Lou was born October 27, 1916 in Peacock, Texas to Lawson Howard Goodwin and Edna Serene Lankford. She attended school in Peacock and in Aspermont. October 6, 1940, Mary Lou married Kenneth A. Ross in Abilene. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2005. She worked as a secretary for Draughn's Business College for ten years. She was also a secretary to a Justice of the Peace and for five years to a geologist in the Petroleum Building. Mary Lou had been a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene since 1940. She was active in Sunday School, Training Union, GA's and WMU. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawson and Edna Goodwin, her husband, Kenneth Ross, one brother, L.H. Goodwin and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Betty Lippincott and her husband Dan, of Abilene; one grandson, Jonathan Felty and his wife Terilyn; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Zachary and Jackson Felty. Memorials may be made in honor of Mary Lou Ross to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 7361, Abilene, Texas 79608-7361; First Baptist Church (City Lights or Glo Day Care Center) 1333 North 3rd Street, Abilene, Texas 79601 or Prison Fellowship.
