Mary Kessner Pagura, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 9, 2014. Mary was in the arms of her baby girl and surrounded by the love of many friends when Jesus called her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 16, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Mary was born January 24, 1929 in Warrensburg, Missouri to Fred and Bertha Kessner. Mary lived life to the fullest. Trendsetter, entrepreneur and people person who never met a stranger, Mary enjoyed a diversified career. Mary worked as a Medical Transcription Manager at Columbus State Hospital, Columbus, Ohio; Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, TX; and Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, TX. Mary owned and operated Maria’s Pizza in Sedalia, Missouri and Columbus, Ohio and The Homestead Steakhouse in Sharon Springs, Kansas. Mary also sold real estate in Columbus, Ohio. Mary was a phenomenal cook and loved to entertain family and friends, blessing them with extraordinary meals. Her children, grandchildren, friends and beloved 16 year old Pomeranian, Emily, brought her much joy. Her love, kindness, generosity and razor sharp wit will be greatly missed. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Billy; parents, Fred and Bertha Kessner; sister, Margaret Fisher; brother, Gary Kessner; grandsons, Carl Osgood and Jason Holbrook. Mary is survived by her children, Marilyn Ann Hudson of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; Marla Buelow of Hillard, Ohio; Frank Mario Pagura II and wife Barbara of Alta Loma, California; Marta Pagura of Abilene, TX; brother Terry Kessner and wife Sharon of Warrensburg, Missouri; sister-in-law, Kathy Kessner of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Steve Osgood, Mike Osgood, Michelle Bundy, Rusty Holbrook, Melisa Holbrook Wray and husband Nate, Frank Pagura III, Jamie Pagura, Justin Pagura; 15 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and 3 nephews and 1 niece. Our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will live in our hearts forever. Memorial contributions may be given to Rescue the Animals SPCA, 4620 North First St., Abilene, TX 79603.
