Mary Jo O'Brien

Mary Jo O'Brien, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, in Burkett Cemetery in Burkett, Texas with Chaplain Charles Goodnight officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The daughter of Winnie Elizabeth (Neff) and Arthur Gee Boyle, she was born on February 13, 1926 in Burkett, Texas where she graduated from Burkett High School. She worked in retail sale for Sears Roebuck & Company. She was a member of Burkett Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Pete O'Brien, sister Cleo Porter, grandson Mike O'Brien, and two brothers Delbert Boyle and Jack Boyle. Mary Jo is survived by her son, Pat O'Brien and wife Johnna of Abilene; daughter, Carolyn Teten and husband Jerry of Abilene; three grandchildren, Jennifer Medford, J'Lynn Harvey, and Steve Teten; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends at University Place in Abilene.
