Mary Frances Teaff Melton, 90, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on September 20, 2023, in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00, Friday, September 23, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at First Baptist Church, 301 Locust, Merkel, Texas with Mason Miller of Normandale Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas, and Taylor Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mary Frances was born to Ernest and Blanche Teaff on July 23, 1933. She started school at Crossroads School in Tye, Texas and graduated from Merkel High School in 1951. She married Thomas C. Melton on September 12, 1951, in Merkel, Texas.
She graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1967. She worked as a schoolteacher for Butterfield School and then Lee Elementary for 20 years.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Teaff; mother, Blanche Teaff; sister Bobbye Mansfield; and brother, Harold Teaff.
Mary Frances is survived by her husband of 72 years, Thomas Melton; daughters Debbie McFadden (Don) of Abilene, Texas; Lisa Blackwell (John) of Abilene, Texas; and Katy Miller (Phil) of Willow Park, Texas; grandchildren Chrissy Cross (Jimmy); Meagan Ruse (Tim); Cory McFadden (Hope); Hailee Cammack (Devin); Laura Owen (Rode); Mason Miller (Dara); and Taylor Miller (Emily). She also had 14 great children that she thoroughly loved spending time with.
Mary Frances would consider one of the most rewarding parts of her life was that of having a ministry as a pastor's wife. She loved people and loved sharing her life with them. She spent many years in many churches serving and loving people. Heaven became a little sweeter on September 20, 2023.
