Mary June Jones

Mary June Jones of Hawley passed away on April 19, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. Funeral services will be at Hawley United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, with Rev. Jack Dominguez officiating. Interment will follow in Hawley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Baxter, Robert Nohl, Craig Johnson, Ronnie Florence, Jerry Florence and John Downey. Ed Womack and Joe Downey will be honorary pallbearers. Mary June was born in Olney, Texas on March 12, 1933, to Joe and Lora Downey. She married Frank H. Jones on June 21, 1956. She graduated from Hawley High School where she excelled in athletics. She was a lifetime member of the Hawley United Methodist Church and spent her life involved in church activities. Mary June’s greatest pride and accomplishment was making a home for family. Her love for her family was evident in all that she did. Mary June was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Jones, her parents and older brother, Joe Mac Downey. She is survived by her children, Randall Wayne Jones and his wife Kathy, and her daughter, LeeAnn Johnson and husband Craig; one brother, Jackie Downey of Big Spring.
