Mary Jo Mitchell Rose Frost, 88, of Abilene, Texas passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022 at Hendrick Hospice Care. Mary graced the world with her presence on February 18, 1933 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Sheldon Dale Mitchell and Josie Caroline James Mitchell. She attended LSU and was a spirited Tiger fan. Following graduation from LSU, Mary and her southern girlfriends moved to Houston, Texas, where she met the first love of her life, David Norman Rose, Major, US Air Force. They welcomed their daughter, Caroline, in 1960. After his passing in 1983, several years later, Mary met the second love of her life, and fellow widower, Bill "Lollipop" Frost. The two were introduced by a close friend and were married in 1992. They enjoyed eight years of fun, travel, dancing, love, and laughter. She was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mary was actively involved in numerous clubs and affiliations in Abilene: Abilene Women's Club, Philharmonic Guild (was honored as the 2016 Golden Charm), Grace Museum, Los Aficionados, Daughters of the American Revolution, Slipper Club, Assembly, Garden Gate, Mother's Study Club, Quilt Club, and Pensadores. Mary had a lust for life, Coca-Colas, a good party, and a five o'clock libation! Mary "Nini" Frost is survived and loved by her friends, and daughter, Caroline Rose Thompson of Santa Barbara, California, her granddaughter, Mary Caroline Mitchell Thompson and fiancée, Dale Gerritt Darcy of Dallas, Texas, honorary daughter, Mary Lee Fife Bicknell of Dallas, Texas, and dear friend and helper Perla Garza of Abilene, Texas. In true Mary fashion, a celebration of her life will be held in the Spring. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff and friends at Wesley Court, and the incredible doctors, kind nurses, and staff of Hendrick Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Hendrick Hospice Care, Abilene Women's Club, or a charity of your choice.
