Our mother, life coach, and friend was born in Marshall, Missouri on November 25,1932
and departed this world peacefully on November 27, 2022. Her battle with chronic illness has
now transitioned into a new adventure she had been preparing for her entire life. Preceding her
in death were her parents (Rev Byron Hester & Mary Wheeler Hester), husband (Darwin Rice
Boardman,Sr.), son (Darwin Rice Boardman, Jr.), grandson (Justin McAlister), and numerous
amazing relatives. She is survived by three daughters; Millie (Terry) McClure of Ft Worth; Kim
(David) McKenzie of Lubbock; Michele (Paul) McAlister of Georgetown; one son; Doug (Donna)
Boardman of Anna, one daughter in law; Cecilia Boardman of Houston, Nine grandchildren;
Mary Frances (Jim) Kajdasz, Trey (Jessica) Boardman, Chris (Stacey) McKenzie, Dustin
(Jessica) McKenzie, Bryan Boardman, Matt Boardman, Paul McClure, Mark McClure, and Lindy
McAlister. Ten great grandchildren.
Mother accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior early in life and remained a faithful follower
and member of the First Christian Church for all of her days. She was an accomplished pianist
and shared her passion with hundreds of children by teaching private piano lessons for over 50
years. She loved her students and was always quick with words of encouragement to help
prepare them for life’s challenges. She served as an elder in her church, sang in the choir,
shared her wisdom and humor daily, loved unconditionally her family and friends, and left us an
example of a life well lived. She knew the most important words she would hear at the end of
life’s journey would be, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” We have absolutely no doubt
that is exactly what she heard and we rejoice in her victory and share her belief that God’s
promise is true: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15). She
will be missed but we know with certainty that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior and
has found His complete healing and eternal peace.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1st at the First Christian Church.
The family would like to thank her church family and friends as well as Dr Robert Totoe,
and Dr Farley Neasman for their considerate and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the
family asks that donations be made in Mil’s memory to: First Christian Church 5125 Antilley Rd Abilene, Texas 79606, fccabilenetx.com.
