Kathryn Barber, 81, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Copperas Cove, Texas on June 20, 1928, she was the daughter of Maude (Parker) and H. R. Gotcher. On January 8, 1949, she married Johnny Barber in Sweetwater, Texas, and moved in 1972 from Sweetwater to Abilene. She was office manager for American National Insurance Co. for over 20 years, and a member of Bible Chapel in Abilene.
The most important thing to Kathryn was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Barber, on September 20, 2007; a grandson, Kyle Huff; her parents; and a brother, Eddie Gotcher.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Ted Barber and wife Debra, of Austin; daughter, Terrye Huff and husband Mike, of Eatonton, Georgia; three grandchildren, Kelly Bolin and husband Joe, Chris Huff and Patrick Huff, and three great-grandchildren, Layne Bolin, Landry Bolin and Layton Bolin. Survivors also include a brother, Richard Gotcher of Amarillo; four sisters, Molline Moore of Caldwell, TX, Kay Sanders of Conroe, TX, Bess Forester of Fort Worth, TX and Pam Crow of Rogers, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews including Carolyn Woods of Abilene and Linda Brookreson of Buffalo Gap, TX.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, at Bible Chapel with Rev. Don Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
