Lavonne Adams, 83, of Abilene, Tx, passed away on October 27, 2023 in Abilene.
Services will be held on Wednesday November 1, 2023. Burial will be held first at 9:30 am, at the Tuscola Cemetery. Following the burial, visitation will begin at 10:30 am with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road with Darin Ray of Wylie Baptist Church officiating.
Lavonne was born and raised in Andrews, TX. She was an athlete, band member, and cheerleader to name only a few of her activities while at Andrews High School. She also helped out at the family run newspaper Andrews County News. She married William Donald Adams on June 20, 1959 in Andrews, Tx. Lavonne received her bachelor degree from Hardin Simmons University in 1962. Lavonne worked and raised three children. She was a follower of Jesus Christ and was always involved in her local church. She volunteered her time by teaching GA’s, Acteens, Vacation Bible School and youth activities as her children grew up. Upon retirement she attended First Baptist Church, Ruidoso, NM where she passionately volunteered in Homebound Ministry for over 15 years. She volunteered time to ESL classes for young mothers in the community and in local Ruidoso elementary schools to help children enhance their reading skills. She served in various offices including President of the Republican Women of Lincoln County in Ruidoso, NM. Lavonne had a life well lived.
Lavonne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Don Adams, daughters Donise & Billy Reed, Rhonda Adams, and son Michael and Dana Adams, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren and brother, Don Ingram.
