Marvin Lee Malaer, 74, of Abilene, Texas lost his battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family on August 23, 2013.
Marvin was born on August 14, 1939 in Luling, Texas to Marvin Glyn and Claudia Ophelia Malaer.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for almost 21 years, retiring in 1977. He then served the City of Abilene for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
In his spare time, Marvin’s passion was restoring classic American cars. He was an avid follower of NASCAR, and enjoyed watching old western movies.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dalton Clay Malaer and Robert Glyn Malaer; and sister, Glenda Faye Malaer.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Darlene Malaer; children, Patricia Gail Kowalski, Stacy Alberta Stewart, James Wendel Parsons and wife Kim, Nora Janette Claspill and husband Michael, all of Abilene, Texas, Claudia Elizabeth Lemon and husband Flint of Pipe Creek, Texas, Glyna Marlene Dickerson and husband Bill of Brentwood, Tennessee, Mara Leigh Chappel of Cibolo, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and brothers, Everett Wayne Malaer and wife Lula of Schertz, Texas, and Jimmy (Chucky) Norman Malaer and wife Rebecca of Stephenville Texas.
Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas on Sunday, August 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A private family burial service will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
