Martha Sue Simpkins, 62, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Frisco, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Buffalo Gap Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Martha Simpkins was born on December 15, 1949 in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center to Melba and Walter Archibald. She married David Simpkins on October 10, 1970 in Abilene. She graduated high school while living in Oregon, but was a long-time resident in Abilene. Martha worked for Mutual of Omaha for 21 years. She spent the last several years enjoying volunteering and participating in activities such as playing card games with her friends at Rose Park Senior Center. She considered this her home away from home. She was also an avid fan of the Abilene High Eagles, where both of her kids graduated high school, and continued to enjoy watching the Eagles play throughout the years. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Martha will always be remembered for putting others first and her giving personality. Survivors include her husband, David Simpkins, son Chris Simpkins, daughter Kim Simpkins, 5 grandchildren Payton, Camryn, Hannah, Taven, and Preston, a sister Melanie Clinton of Oregon, and a brother, Doug Archibald of Kansas. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pam Davis. Memorials may be made in Martha's honor to Meals On Wheels, 717 N. 10th Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
