Martha was born in the big city of Ballinger, Tx to James Earl and Hazel Heritta Harral on July 11, 1947. She went to school and graduated from Ballinger High. She married the love of her life, Dennis E. Sherman on January 22, 1965. They raised three children with love and grace. While building their family, they started the first credit union for the Texas Highway Department in Abilene which they ran out of their home. Martha spent many years making a loving home for her family while also running an in-home daycare. If anyone were to ask she would say her greatest accomplishment was her family. She and Dennis never missed an event, always on the sideline or in the audience cheering and encouraging their grand and great-grandchildren. She was extremely proud of all of them and their accomplishments, both large and small. She also loved her holiday traditions; Easter's egg hunt, confetti egg fight and cupcake decorating, Thanksgiving games in the backyard and the Christmas circle of gifts and sweets. Martha taught everyone what family is by being a shining example of love and acceptance.
Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis E. Sherman, parents and siblings: Kenneth Harral, Mo (Elmo) Harral, Paul and Charlene Harral, Ruth Harral, Dorothy and Joe Camp, Darlene and Jimmy Jones, Mike Egan, Mary and Maxie Cole.
Martha is survived by her children: Kevin (Nancy) Sherman, Becky Sherman (Joel Chesser) and Michael (Rebecca) Sherman, her siblings: Pat (Carolyn) Harral and Jenny Egan, her grandchildren: Blake (Jocelyn), Connor, Daniel, MaryGrace, Nichole, Jarrod, Tyler, Aria, Anthony, Hunter, Kyla, Rylie and Kaiden, her great-grandchildren: Aubree, Avery and Ricky and her family-in-love: Kenneth (Ruth) Sherman and Beth Harral, Mona Lopez and Greta Gerdau. There are many, many more family and friends that were near and dear to her heart.
She is also survived by her loving companion, her fur-baby, Ellie.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod and Tyler West, Blake, Connor, Daniel, Anthony and Kaiden Sherman; with honorary pallbearer, Ricky West.
Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels of Abilene, Cancer.org or any other charity near and dear to you.
The family of Martha wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Kendrick, Dr. Vega and their office staff along with Interim Hospice for all the care and attention given to Martha both in her fight against cancer and in her final days making sure she was comfortable.
