Martha Bever Forman, 68, of Abilene, Texas went to her Lord and Savior Sunday January 10th 2021. She will be met with open arms by her parents Thomas and Wilma Bever.
Funeral services will be held at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church on Thursday January 14th, 2021 at 1pm with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial services will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene (3pm). A small reception to follow.
Martha was born on May 20th 1952 to Thomas and Wilma Bever in Abilene, TX. She graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1970, and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Tech University in 1974. Martha was a proud member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Tech, and held her sisters very dear to her heart.
Martha began her career as an educator in Trent, TX teaching first grade students from 1974 to 1978. After a brief stint raising two boys, Martha returned to teaching in 1996 at Woodson Head Start Elementary. Countless students crossed her door, and countless students are the better for it. She gave her all to teaching, and wanted the absolute best for each of her kids. When Martha retired in 2014, she was proud to help mentor young teachers and start working with the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organization.
In April of 1975, Martha's world would be flipped on its head. A tall pilot out of the oil fields of West Texas rode into town, and settled into his Las Brisas Apartment right below Martha. Bobby loved to tease Martha, and Martha loved to play little jokes. After convincing Bobby she absolutely knows how to ride a motorcycle, she promptly crashed it. Bobby was smitten. After pestering her relentlessly, Martha succumbed to Bobby's requests for a date and the rest is history. Bobby and Martha were wed in Abilene, TX on June 12th, 1976. What started as a 13-month romance, led to 46 wonderful years together.
Martha's true calling came in 1978 when she and Bobby welcomed their first son, Chad, into the world. While they were pleased with their first child, they knew they had work to do. Thankfully in 1983, Bobby and Martha welcomed their second son, Scott, and knocked it out of the park. Her whole world were her two boys, and they are better men because of her influence. She could be perfectly described as the "neighborhood mom" where all were welcome to come and go as they pleased. She was also proficient at late night trips helping friends and family who seemed to be running low on toilet paper. Martha was more than just a mom to Chad and Scott, she was a mom to a lot of friends and students.
Martha's world swelled even more with the arrival of Reid Robert Forman in 2016 and Ellie Rose Forman in 2019. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. Mumsy's love and smile will forever be in their hearts.
Martha was surrounded by an amazing network of friends that will sorely miss her daily interactions. One thing is for sure, the Abilene gossip lines will be a little quieter from this day on. We always enjoyed catching up with Mom, because like her, we love a little Abilene gossip.
Martha is survived by her husband Bobby Forman; Chad & Aimee Forman; Scott & Katie Forman; Thomas (brother) & Gwen Bever; Joe & Judy (sister-in-law) Miller; Reid & Ellie Forman (grandchildren); Brian, Dana (niece), Caleb, Clair & Faith Lindner; Darren, Camille(niece) & Madison McBride; Virgil & Tiffany Wallace(niece), Chase McCelvey; Clint(nephew) & Alyssa Miller.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CASA or another worthy children's charity. We will have an informal viewing Wednesday January 13th from 6pm to 7:45pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home on Buffalo Gap Road. Please feel free to come and go as you please.
Due to this horrible virus, we ask each of you planning to attend to wear a mask for everyone's protection. We appreciate your understanding of this matter.
May God Bless Martha Bever Forman.
