Martha Faye Crossland, of Abilene, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the age of 85. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm today, Tuesday, November 19, at Broadview Baptist Church, with Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Faye Crossland was born July 5, 1922 to William and Martha Hail in Iowa Park, Texas. She attended school in Shamrock, Texas and Lippert's Business College in Plainview, Texas. Faye met the love of her life Raymond in Shamrock, Texas before proudly serving her country in the Womens' Army Corps in World War II. When Raymond completed his military service overseas they were married in uniform in Wheeler, Texas on June 4, 1945.
Faye worked for many years at Timex then Minter's Department Store where she retired. She was a faithful and longtime member of Broadview Baptist Church and a Past Worthy Matron of Cora Posey Chapter #1072, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Bradshaw of Abilene, Linda Simpson of Oklahoma City, and one son Dewayne Crossland of Abilene, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson and eleven brothers and sisters.
