Martha LaNell Blackburn Drummond, 82, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at an Abilene nursing home.
Born in Elmdale, Texas on July 25, 1930, Martha was the daughter of Maudie LaVern (Antilley) and Walter Harrison Blackburn. A lifelong resident of the Abilene area, she was the wife of a farmer, welder and rancher in Caps for many years. She also had been a lunch room and snack bar manager in the Abilene ISD for 30 years.
Martha was a member of Caps United Methodist Church and a former member of Elmdale Baptist Church.
Her parents and one brother, Walter H. Blackburn, Jr., preceded Martha in death.
Martha is survived by her husband of 64 years, J.K. Drummond, Sr. of Abilene; son, Jerry Drummond and wife Nancy Lynn of Abilene; daughter, Joy Kusel and husband Doug of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister, LaVern Blackburn Landers of Abilene; two grandchildren, Jarred “Tito” Drummond and wife Rachelle of Big Spring, and Katlyn Drummond of Abilene; one great-grandchild, Aubrie Smith; and granddog, Duke.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment will follow in Drummond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
