Marsha Ruth King

1950 — November 10, 2012

Marsha Ruth King, AKA, Queenie of Tuscola, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of November 10, 2012. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Allen and Ruth Meeks. She graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1968 and then attended Angelo State University and Baylor University. She married her first love Tommy King on August 19, 1971 in Anchorage, Alaska. Marsha's love for music opened many doors for her beginning with "The Rambling Five" from 1965-1967. She toured Canada opening for Gordon Lightfoot in the summer of 1969. In the early 80's she began singing with the group "Glass" that performed regularly at the Abilene Country Club and the Petroleum Club. She was a member of the choir at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church from 1982- 1995 and loved being part of the annual Easter pageant. Marsha was a member of Beltway Park Baptist Church. She and Tommy owned Western Trailer & Equipment in Abilene, Texas. Marsha was preceded in death by her father, Allen Meeks. She is survived by her husband Tommy King, her children Taylor Mulkey and Jordan King, her brother, Steve Meeks of Bedford, TX, her sisters Donna Bingham of Buffalo Gap and Beth Ann Anderson of Sun City, CA, her mother, Ruth Meeks of Abilene, grandchildren, Dean and Londyn Mulkey, and Stone King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marsha was an amazing woman of God whose faith strengthened not only her family and friends but also everyone she met. She never met a stranger and was a best friend to many. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Queenie will be accepting an audience: visitation at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Wednesday, November 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services Thursday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Beltway Park Baptist Church with interment at Buffalo Gap Cemetery following the service. Memorials can be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, TX 79601; The 700 Club, c/o The Christian Broadcasting Network, 977 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23463; or a favorite charity.
