Marlene Del Davis, 74, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at an Abilene care center.
Born in Rock Hampton, Australia on October 8, 1935, Del was the daughter of Amy (Thomas) and John Henry Wiseman. She married Maxwell A. "Mac" Davis on October 6, 1966 in Sydney, Australia. After leaving Sydney, Del and her husband lived two years in Lake Charles, Louisiana before moving to Algiers, Algeria, from which they moved to Abilene in 1974.
Del had participated in several social and charitable organizations since moving to Abilene. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, most recently serving as chairman of the Liturgy Committee and also on the Board of Directors of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, an organization which does charitable work in the Abilene area.
Del liked to dance and was a past president of the Slipper Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge, having been a member of several bridge groups.
Del is survived by her husband, Maxwell A. "Mac" Davis of Abilene. Her parents and one sister, Cheryl Brandon, preceded Del in death.
Funeral mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor Frederick Nawarskas officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. The family will receive friends at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., on Sunday, October 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m.
