Mark Head

Mark Head, 57 years old, from Abilene, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015. His visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26th (his 58th birthday) from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 27 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Reverend Iziar Lankford officiating. Mark will be buried in the Moran Cemetery at 2:00 pm with a small graveside service. Mark was born in Dallas Texas and raised by Betty and Tom Head. He went to schools in Corpus Christi, Beaumont, Mesquite and Abilene, Texas. He graduated from the Texas State Technical Institute. Mark worked in the sales departments of PaMarco in Dallas, Texas, Unicom in Hollister, California and Arrow Ford in Abilene, Texas. Mark spent some time volunteering with the Ben Richey Boys Ranch helping with their big picnic. He also spent time helping friends with computer and technical problems. Mark would help anybody who asked him, anytime they asked him. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father Tom Head. He is survived by his mother Betty Head, his son Wesley Head, and daughter- in- law Tricia Head. He is also survived by his sister Debby Matassa, brother- in- law Louie Matassa and niece Mamie Matassa. Years ago, Mamie proclaimed him "BEST UNCLE". Mark is also survived by numerous friends near and far. He really didn't know any strangers. Memorials may be spent to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch, P O Box 6839, Abilene, TX 79608. Our family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the ER doctors and nurses at Hendricks Hospital as well as the doctors and nurses at UMC Lubbock who worked hard to keep Mark with us. We would also like to thank the helicopter pilot and supporting staff who flew him to Lubbock. That trip must surely have been the best part of his transition.
