Marjorie Campsey Reese went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 11, 2008. Born in Knox City, TX on June 12, 1933, Margie grew up in Munday, TX and later received a BBA from Hardin-Simmons where she was involved in Cowgirls.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack Reese; daughter Brooksie Braden, husband Jim and grandchildren Katie and Brooks; daughter Judy Grant, husband Mike and grandchildren Zach and Nick all of Dallas, TX; and daughter Lee Ann Laney, husband Mark and grandchildren Ben and Sam of Amarillo, TX.
Margie accomplished much in her 75 years on earth and will be remembered for her commitment, determination, positive outlook and loyalty to family and friends. An active community volunteer, she was involved in The Junior League of Abilene, participated in many philanthropic events, was a hospital volunteer at Hendrick Medical Center and taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church where she was a celebrated 50 year member. Later in life, she became a licensed real estate agent while also enjoying many hobbies such as tennis, gardening, reading, working crossword puzzles and card games. As a wife, she was a loyal, faithful companion and friend. She is described as the most optimistic and supportive person her husband had ever known. As a couple, Margie and Jack will be fondly remembered as the couple who could dance the night away! As a mother, she clearly loved the Lord and was committed to making sure her daughters knew Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Her constant example of faith through joyful times as well as hardships, and her focus on making sure they had every opportunity to experience God's love for them has made her 3 daughters who they are today. They are blessed beyond measure to have known a love such as hers. As a grandmother, she was thrilled to have five grandsons as well as one granddaughter to spoil and love. "Gran" was always their biggest fan! Margie shared lifelong friendships with incredible women and thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent playing Bridge and Mahjong, dearly loving those around her and living life to its' fullest. Margie will be deeply missed and always cherished by those who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Elmwood Memorial Park followed by a celebration of her life at 10:30 am in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Abilene.
