Marjorie Marie Andrews

Marjorie Stockton Andrews died peacefully on Thursday, December 6th in Abilene, Texas. 

Born on June 3, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, Marjorie graduated from Texas Tech University with an Elementary Education degree in 1952. She married E.H. (Mac) Andrews on June 21st following graduation. They were married for 62 years. 

Marjorie was infinitely curious. She enjoyed reading, flying, traveling, writing, and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were especially precious to her. “Grandmarjie” made many a trip with them to Tadpole Creek passing on her love of nature and her sense of adventure. She also enjoyed the friendship of a dear group of women who meet regularly to celebrate their birthdays.

Marjorie is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Grace Stockton, her brother, Hal Stockton, and her husband, Mac Andrews. 

She is survived by her son Dick Andrews and his wife, Leslie; her daughter Marianne Wood and her husband, Larry; and her daughter Jane Hutchens and her husband, Kenneth. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Andrews and his wife, Vanessa; Laurie Wood Weatherly and her husband, Cale; Scott Andrews and his wife, Melissa; Peter Wood and his wife, Xi; Shelby Hutchens and Peyton Hutchens. In addition, Marjorie is survived by three great-grandchildren: Coralee and Cason Andrews, and Margot Weatherly. Marjorie’s sister-in-law, Jean Stockton, as well as Jean’s son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Elba Stockton, also survive her.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Wesley Court, Lyndale Memory Care, Hospice of the Big Country and Visiting Angels for demonstrating the kindest of care to Marjorie.

A private memorial celebration is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s name may be made to The National WASP WWII Museum, 210 Avenger Field Road, Sweetwater, Texas 79556 or to the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra Association, 401 Cypress Street, Suite 520, Abilene, Texas 79601.
