Marilynn Kay Reeves, 80, of Abilene, made her homecoming on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born on January 10, 1943, in Amarillo to Willie and Rachel Berry.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 12 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, November 13 at Beltway Park South in the chapel. Burial will follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Marilynn graduated from Littlefield High School in 1961. She married her childhood sweetheart, Delma Doyle Reeves on August 24, 1963, after having known each other since they were babies in the church nursery. She continued her education at Hardin Simmons University where she received her teaching certificate. She also attended SWSC where she earned her Master of Education in 1967. She taught school for over 36 years. Marilynn and Doyle were founding members of Praise Temple, and Marilynn was an active member at Beltway Park South, where she helped in the kitchen and was part of a bible study group and life group. Marilynn loved camping in the mountains and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her sister-in-law, Patsy Lightsey.
Marilynn is survived by her daughters, Shila Reeves and Kayla Reeves (David); three grandchildren, Kelsey Stephenson, Hunter Stephenson (Lauren), and Lara Rey Reeves. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Berry (Betty), sister, Lesa Jordan (Bill), brother-in-law, Bill Lightsey and numerous nieces and nephews, and honorary family members, Caroline Cole and her sons, Carlton and Chris Cole and their families.
