Marianne McClure Antilley

    Born in Breckenridge, Texas on September 16, 1926, to Omer Dee and Bertha Russell McClure. The family moved to Abilene, Texas in 1929. She was schooled at Travis Elementary and Abilene High School, a graduate in 1944. She married the love of her life Frank Kennedy Antilley, of Elmdale, Texas; October 15, 1944. They were married 60 years until his passing, in 2004 on their home place in Taylor County. He had served proudly as a Merchant Marine during World War II for two years until returning to their home on the Flyin’ A Ranch in Wingate, Texas.

They were blessed with four children, Timothy the eldest who passed at birth. Cynthia Ann Antilley Cathey and husband Bill of Wingate. Tommy K. Antilley and wife Kei (Bedford) of Robert Lee, and Gary Don Antilley and wife Stasia (Carver) of Wingate.

 The matriarch to a family blessed with her teachings of compassion and legacy, she was the proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, in order: Shelly Antilley Guevara (Lupe) of Fredericksburg, Scott Antilley (Julia) of San Angelo, Cara Cathey Ledbetter of Pikeville, NC, Jamie Antilley (Bobby Yates) of Winters, Casey Antilley of Abilene, Kourtney Cathey Pierik (John) of Wingate, Ryan Antilley (Taylor Brooks) of Abilene, and Kallie Antilley (Johnny Martinez) of Wingate.

She also had seven great grandchildren in order: Hannah (Estevan Nava) of Winters, Jeffery, Mollie and Matthew Weaver; children to Jamie. Ryder Antilley; son to Kallie. John “Jack” and Liam Pierik; sons to Kourtney, and great-great grandchildren; Jacob and Braxton Nava, children of Hannah.

She will join those of her family whom preceded her in glory; her parents, four brothers; Omer Dee McClure Jr., Bill McClure and wife Ramona, Jay McClure, Russell McClure and wife Jean; in-laws Roy and Doris Lynn Manahan of Abilene, Mozelle Antilley wife to her surviving brother-in-law, Joe Antilley of Elmdale, she also joins her in-laws Frank and Nalda Antilley, of Abilene.

She also joins her two grandchildren and a great granddaughter whom preceded her, Hollie Ann Cathey (Jeremy Sockwell) of Midland, Clay Kennedy Antilley of Robert Lee and Paisley Antilley Laird of Wingate.

She is also survived by brother-in-law Joe Antilley of Elmdale, and a sister-in-law Lois McClure (Jay) of Lubbock and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Flyin’ A Ranch, in Wingate Texas, was founded in 1941. The foresight and commitment to continuing a legacy based in Christian values and family tradition, led her and frank to establish a partnership for generations, to be continued by their survivors and equal partners in their passing.

A fearless and determined woman was never left with contentment towards being a housewife alone, she was famous for her needlepoint, handy work, homemade pizza and pralines that she shared with friends and family. Marrianne could be found along Frank’s side on any place he committed his work to across the Flyin’ A Ranch. She tirelessly worked hand in hand with the surviving generations to her passing, as an integral part of the daily operations and success of the ranch, which has been a contributing supporter to the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Rehab Ranchers Program, as well as a recognized and awarded conservation ranch multiple times, and has also been a pioneering operation in managing livestock, including ; mohair goats, sheep, cattle, antelope conservation and development practices.

She found her place in the community as a helper where needed in 4-H, Cub Scouts, FFA and as a supporter to her grandchildren, and their friend’s scholastic athletic pursuits. She was proudly given the title as “Grammer”, which carried into the community as they were always ensuring that their communities children felt loved.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winters, Texas, since 1964.

The family asks for donations to be made to First Baptist Church Winters, West Texas Rehab Center, or your preferred charity in lieu of flowers.

Marianne will be laid to rest in Shep, Texas on June 28, 2018. The family will receive friends at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Her services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Winters, on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., 104 West Truett St. Winters, Texas 79567.
