Marguerite Ann Griner Melson

1927 — June 6, 2009

Marguerite Ann Griner Melson was born January 19, 1927, in Dallas, Texas. The only child of Heidt Harper Griner and Marie Blanton Griner, she moved with her parents to Houston in 1936, and live there 33 years of her life. She graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri in 1946, and from Southern Methodist University in 1948. She married J. Edwin Melson in 1950. She moved with her husband and sons to Abilene in 1971. She was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church, The Sewing Club, Pierian Study Club and The Revelers. Marguerite felt her finest accomplishments were her three sons. She is survived by her husband, Ed, and her children...Jim and Leslie Melson of Dallas, Heidt and Dianna Melson of Amarillo, Ben and Belinda Melson of Houston and nine grandchildren...Jed, Ann Marie, Ellen, Benjamin, Joanne, Katie, John, Christy and Jack. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8th, at First Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. Clifford S. Stewart officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Memorials may be made to First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange St., Abilene, Texas 79601, or to a favorite charity.
