Margot Helena Murray

Margot Murray, 68, died at her home in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006 in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Margot was born August 17, 1937 in Zwickau, Germany to George and Helene Dittrich Helgert. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Church in Germany at the age of 12. After graduating from high school, she married Rolf Murray in 1956. The military couple was transferred to Dyess Air Force Base in 1958 and made Abilene their home. Margot worked for Timex until the plant closed and then began a 13 year career with the Masters Corporation making Presto products. Two of her favorite hobbies were bowling and reading. Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Danny Murray, who died in August of 2005. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Monika and Steve Smith of Abilene; two grandsons, Jeremy Chad Smith of Cedar Hill, Texas and Shawn Michael Smith of Abilene; Monika's father and step mother, Rolf Charles "R.C." and Phyllis Murray of Abilene; a cousin and her family Renate Zenner, her husband Geunter and daughter Katrin of Zwickau, Germany; two friends since childhood, Annemarie Schmidt and Ingrid Theile, both of Zwickau, Germany.
