Margie Baccus, 89, of Noodle, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, with Shellie Evans of First Church of Christ Scientist officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas. She will be in state at The Hamil Family Funeral Home beginning Monday, August 21, at 10:00 a.m.
Margie was born in Jones County, Texas, to Carson and Mollie Hatfield on May 18, 1928, and graduated from Noodle High School. She married Wayne Baccus on June 15, 1946, in Merkel, Texas. She owned and operated Wayne's Drive-In Grocery for many years. She was a reader in her church, taught Sunday School and served in the church Reading Room. She also helped deliver for Meals on Wheels.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Mollie Hatfield, and her husband, Wayne Baccus.
Survivors include her son, Gary Baccus; daughter, Shirley Manahan; brother, Eulan Hatfield; two grandchildren, Shanna Briggs and Brent Briggs; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Briggs and Lucas Stultz.
The family wishes to extend thanks to Dr. Vincent Van Acht, Dr. John Casada, and the staff of Hendrick Hospice Care, as well as the multi-denomination singers for their support and encouragement.
Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice, or First Church of Christ Scientist, Abilene.
