Margaret Mae Wilson, 90, beloved mother and grandmother who lived a life of service to others, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2009.
An Abilene visitation will be on Saturday, February 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Visitation in Fort Worth will be on Sunday, February 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 23, at 11:30 a.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Reid of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene officiating. Burial will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Fort Worth.
Margaret was born November 5, 1918 in Fort Worth, Texas to David James Kahler and Bettie Beat, a descendent of the Howard pioneer family of Tarrant County. She married James Taylor Wilson on September 23, 1939 in Fort Worth. She and her husband owned and operated Wilson Landscape Construction from 1956 to 1980. After retirement, she became a child care worker at Kiddie Junction Child Development Center.
She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene. Prior to moving to Abilene, she was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert, Fred and Eddie Kahler, and her son-in-law, Frank Casteel.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Casteel and Beverly Tucker and her husband, John, of Abilene, Cindy Wilson-Arrick and her husband, Dennis, of Fort Worth, and Cheryl Brenner and husband, Rand, of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren, Tammie and Randy Belew of Sweetwater, Lisa and Matt Caldwell of Mansfield, Jami and Scott Bunnell of Abilene and Aimee Pitts of Dallas. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren.
The family wished to express gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of Mesa Springs Nursing Center; Dr. Toby Williams; dear friends, Bill and Imogene Bleiker and Margaret Lewis; and a special niece and nephew, Mattie and Dub Wilson.
