Margaret M. Stayton, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center.
The daughter of Jeannie (May) and Leo McGaha, Margaret was born on June 7, 1927 in Yale, Oklahoma. She married Glen Roy Stayton in Odessa. In 1948 they moved from Odessa, Texas, to Abilene where she was a homemaker and a waitress for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Roy Stayton; one son, Jimmy Ray Stayton; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Stayton; her parents; one sister, Dorothy Ann McGaha; and a brother, Charles William McGaha.
Margaret is survived by a son, Gary Glen Stayton and wife Joyce of Gatesville, Texas; two daughters, Veda Monroe and husband Terry of Potosi, Texas, and Kimberly Caton and Bill Chandler of Abilene; six grandchildren, Juliet, Keenan, Ray, Jennie, Joe and Henry; seven great-grandchildren; and her companions, cats “Baby” and shy “Fuzzy”.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, in Elmwood Memorial Park with Terry Monroe officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
